Melisa Önel
Photographer & Film Maker

Born in Izmir, Melisa Önel studied at Tufts University and graduated with a degree in International Relations. She’s completed her Masters degree in Film Studies. She’s involved in producing and directing films and photography. Her previous short film Omega Tilki was chosen among the best 10 short films of the year, in the Hisar Short Film Selection and was screened in the many festivals including the 44th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Short Film selection. She also worked as the Director of Photography on Aykut Atasay’s short film, Transvestites. Voice of My Father; the feature length documentary that she has been involved in producing, has been awarded the ITVS development award and has received the Jan Vrijman Production / Post-production fund. Living and working in Istanbul her photography has participated in many exhibitions local and international. She has recently participated in BJCEM that took place in Skopje and the Photoquai Biennale that took place in Paris. She is also part of the photography initiative RecCollective.
